Horticulture fertilizer and planting mix for nurseries

Our amendments and organo-mineral fertilizers are built on Mazor®, the result of seven months of controlled composting with the patented Cronops® process. Plant oilseed cakes, grape and olive pulp, coffee grounds and, depending on the formula, sterilized animal materials are transformed: carbon is stabilized, the C/N ratio falls, pathogens are eliminated and the microflora develops. That is what sets a composted material apart from the same material in its raw state.

A young plant arrives with a root ball that has to colonize new soil. If that soil is compacted, dry or low in organic matter, the roots circle in the hole and establishment drags on. A planting mix, blended with the soil from the hole, eases the transition.

That is the job of Germiplant®, our growing medium, which meets the NF U 44-551 standard. Its water-holding capacity reaches 116% of its dry matter, its pH is 6.6 and its low conductivity (0.15 mS/cm) is gentle on young roots. Allow 1 to 2 kg per tree or shrub, or 0.5 kg per planting hole for a vegetable plant.

That is why our programme always follows the same order: soil support, nutrition, adjustments.

In open ground, a nursery keeps its trees on the same plot for several seasons, then lifts them with their root ball, so the soil is quickly depleted of organic matter. Regular applications of an organic amendment such as Humiflor® Biomazor® maintain soil structure and biological activity between plantings.

For nutrition, a balanced organo-mineral fertilizer such as Mikroflor® 3 Puissance 4 (NPK 3-3-3 + 3 MgO, with calcium and sulphur) supports growth. A concentrated organic nitrogen fertilizer such as AB’Flor® 13 N revives a crop that lacks vigour. In containers, nutrition depends mainly on the substrate: ask us for the formula suited to your crops.

Flowering calls for potash and magnesium more than nitrogen: too much nitrogen produces foliage at the expense of flowers. A potash-rich organo-mineral fertilizer such as AB’Flor® 4-8-10 S + 3 MgO, approved for organic farming, supports flowering and plant sturdiness.

For a hedge or a row of trees, establishment depends on preparation: loosened soil, an organic amendment worked in along the planting line, then 1 to 2 kg of Germiplant® per plant, mixed with the soil from the hole. Water in generously at planting.

Fertilizer follows the next spring, applied to the surface around the plants: a balanced organo-mineral fertilizer sustains growth without forcing fragile shoots. On heavy clay soil, Humiflor® Humomaze®, made from Mazor® and wool, flocculates the clay and aerates the soil.
